The Economic Redevelopment and Revitalization Committee (EDARC) is responsible for the economic, social, and sustainable well-being of the town’s business and private sectors. We seek to support our business community through grants, developmental programming, and marketing support. We are committed to preserving our small town appeal of Gate City by presenting community events and supporting historic preservation with economic development to keep our business districts prosperous and vital.

The Gate City Arts & Music Initiative (GCAM) through the EDARC committee is responsible for producing four signature events a year: Clinch Mountain Music Festival, Grillin at the Gate, King Alleyween, and Christmas Open House. GCAM also produces the Kickin Back @ King Alley, a free weekly concert series between June and September. These events highlight the Town of Gate City’s core tourism focus of music, art, eco-tourism, and healthy living. These signature events bring visitors to our town and increase the economic viability of our businesses.

EDARC committee has partnered with the Crooked Road, Southwest Virginia Heritage Foundation, The Carter Fold, The Fire Escape, Scott County Chamber of Commerce, Scott County Historic Society, Scott County Art Bazaar, Virginia Department of Tourism, and Scott County Economic Development Authority to help strengthen Gate City’s position in the emerging outdoor tourism market in Southwest Virginia. The Town of Gate City is an affiliate member of the Virginia Main Street Program.

The Gate City EDARC committee’s goal is to facilitate business growth and opportunities in our community. We are committed to opening doors for local businesses and businesses considering locating to or expanding in the Town of Gate City. Our interest is in finding solutions that encourage economic development that are conducted in an environment of openness, integrity, honesty, and ethical behavior.
