Forging and Uttering of Worthless Checks

On August 19, 2015 the Gate City Police Department received a report of a female passing worthless checks at a local convenience store. Upon arrival the store manager stated an unidentified female at the time had passed a worthless checks on various dates. The checks belonged to a male who has been deceased, and an elderly female that was in assisted living. Further investigation into the identity of the female revealed her identity as Amy Presnell of Church Hill, Tennessee. Presnell is a white female that is 39 years of age. The Gate City Police Department furthered their investigation into surrounding businesses, and located two other locations were identified where Presnell had passed checks on the same two accounts.

Presnell was positively identified by the employees of the businesses that the checks were passed on. Presnell also passed the worthless checks at other various locations throughout Scott County.

Presnell is currently incarcerated and charged with the following:

4 Counts of Possession of a Stolen Check
6 Counts of Obtain Merchandise by False Pretenses
