Repaving Kane Street and Jackson Street

VDOT has informed the Town that Kane Street and Jackson Street (from Aurora Street to Sue Street) will be repaved. The project will begin on Monday, September 30th.

Below is the schedule:

  • Monday, 9/30/19 – Start Milling/Paving operations at the intersection of Sue St./W. Jackson St. These operations will continue until Friday, 10/04/19.
  • Sunday, 10/06/19 – Operations will move to the intersection of RTE 23/Kane St. Traffic onto Kane St from RTE 23 will be detoured to the W. Jackson St exit. After work is completed past or near Jones St., the detour will be removed, and flaggers will direct traffic.
  • After Kane St., operations will resume on W. Jackson St. In order to complete the business district section of the work, all street parking will be blocked on 1 side of the road and all cars will have to park on the side not being paved.

ALL OPERATIONS ARE PLANNED FOR DAYTIME HOURS.

Once the paving project is complete, the Town will restripe the parking spaces.

PAVING BEGINS IN GATE CITY AREA MONDAY (SEPTEMBER 30)

Paving will be Sundays through Fridays for 2-3 weeks

BRISTOL â€“ Beginning Monday (September 30), anticipate paving to begin along Jackson Street and Kane Street in the Gate City area.

Paving will take place during daytime hours Sundays through Fridays for 2-3 weeks. While paving is underway, be alert to limited parking and flaggers directing traffic. Use caution when paving teams are present and pay close attention to signs and flaggers.   (END)
